Ray Bradbury Interview - Part 1 (intro)

(A long time ago - 1995 to be exact, I wrote a feature story on Ray Bradbury, based on aninterview and remarks he made at Centenary College in Shreveport. Since a lot of people drop by here to read my post on The October Game, I thought this might be of interest. YOU INTERVIEWED BRADBURY???!!!! You are a god.

There were always certain people I would have died to meet. These have been my muses. They've touched me in different ways and have helped me give voice to facets of my personality I might otherwise would have allowed to remain mute.

I still read "Something Wicked This Way Comes" once a year; and when I'm looking for inspiration, I talk to Doug Spalding through the pages of "Dandelion Wine".

BRADBURY. I don't mean to gush, but this man is the closet I come to hero worship.

I was pretty much in awe when it happened. I was fortunate enough to get my paperback copy of The Illustrated Man signed while he was at Centenary. It felt like I drove all night getting to Shreveport and back to Alexandria, only two hours away. I have a couple more parts to go because it was a long article, especially by newspaper standards, but watch for Part 3 where he discusses the origins of Something Wicked This Way Comes.
