The election - Kinky and the whole dang thing

Well, Kinky didn't take the mansion, but he certainly made the race interesting and he highlighted some good points:

Special interests are controlling way too much on the state and national level.

It's hard for an independent do get on the ballot .

People will vote for somebody with perfect hair quicker than they will a writer/singer/songwriter with quips.

If I wore a hat, I'd have it off to him now.

In Louisiana, nothing, absolutely nothing, can keep people from running for office and getting elected. We've got a run-off going now with one candidate who was caught with several hundred thousand dollars of taxpayer money in his drawers. He got more votes in the general election than any other candidate. sigh!

It's amazing, but this election on a national level is inspiring. I think it's not Democrats but democracy that won -- as Lou Dobbs puts it on CNN.com it's a "big hallelujah for American voters."

He goes on to say:

"While the Democratic Party was the clear winner, I don't believe for even a moment that the Democrats' ideals prevailed over Republican ideals. Election Day was middle-class America's declaration of independence from a Republican-led administration and Congress that for six years has been telling working men and women and their families in this country to shut up, listen up and go to hell."
