A bill passes

Well, this week has been sobering.
I think this animation which helped me with civics when I was younger left out a few stages in the process.

They don't mention the failing in the House, going to the Senate for a few billion in sweeteners, then riding back to the House on another bill for another vote.

Sweet land of liberty!

  2. Sid, you must be nearly as oldas I am. My nieces don't have civics class anymore and didn't know the word when I mentioned it to them.

  3. Thanks to Schoolhouse Rock & remember the preamble verbatim even to this day. I just had to buy the DVD for my nephews a couple months ago. ;)

We bought the Schoolhouse Rock DVD for our kids, too.

Now they know that the very, very bad Bailout Bill cannot be blamed on just one person.

I love the line from The Patriot when Gibson's character chimed in on secession: "Why should I trade one tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants 1 mile away."

I sat powerless as a really, really bad bill passed. sigh
